So, we’re coming to the end of our time in Italy so I’ll do a quick recap of the past couple of weeks because they’ve been unsurprisingly busy
Rome
Gosh, isn’t Rome just so very [searches for word] permanenttrafficjam? And so many ancient structures just lying around everywhere (tbf this is Italy in general)

Obviously we did the colosseum and Palatine Hill, and obviously we went and stared at some fountains and pretty churches, and obviously we did a ball pit (there will be no further explanation of the ball pit, soz.)
We were staying in a hotel next to the Vatican and probably the best bit for me was the number of incredibly hot priests wandering around everywhere like some kind of Fleabag episode.
Naples
Gosh, isn’t Naples just so very [searches for word] absolutelyfilthy in a very charming way? Like a Latin Glasgow.

Anyway, again lots of walking around admiring a volcano, the consequences of living next to a volcano, and eating pizza (not necessarily in that order). This was the place the kids discovered you can get pizza topped with chips and hotdogs, which has now become their staple pizza request.
Like I said, a Latin Glasgow.
Vieste
This was our R&R week where we played on the beach and mooched about a lot with nothing much to do or places to go. It was divine.
Also accidentally took the kids to their first rave.
Lecce
This has probably been my favourite part of Italy so far and it was only meant to be a brief stop before we got on the train to Venice. Strongly recommend people make the effort to visit - great shops, restaurants and general vibe. Wish we’d stayed a bit longer BUT I think you need a car to get the full beauty of it and the whole ethos of this trip was to not fly or rent a car the entire time so I’m putting a pin in it as somewhere to come back and visit one day.
Venice
And after a 9hr train journey yesterday we are in Venice! And finally I get a small break from the constant terror that is italian traffic and my children’s inability to look where they’re walking. Instead I get to experience the terror that are the open canals and my children’s inability to look where they’re walking.
Anyway, I love it here so far, and for me to be able to say that after just an evening says a lot. Again, wish I’d planned for a longer stay but we have a night train to Vienna tomorrow night, so a busy couple of days ahead of us getting the sights in. Ciao!
Hi Karen! Hope you settling in! Did you get a NZ phone number? Jenny x
