Please take my lack of regular updates to be a sign of just how busy and fun travelling around Italy is!
We arrived in Milan on the 9th and only stayed the one night, because I don’t know if you’ve met my kids but high-end fashion and art connoisseurs they are not.
They do however love pizza so we took the opportunity to enjoy the first (of what I’m sure will be many) Italian pizzeria of the trip. As you can see, Kid C continues to be thrilled to be on holiday.
We travelled to Genoa the next day and found it to be absolutely brilliant and highly recommended as a destination for those of you with kids. There is so much to do and it’s all extremely conveniently located fairly close together. The streets are extremely walkable, and I say this as someone who was NOT PREPARED for just how spicy it is to cross the road as a pedestrian in Italy.
When we first arrived there was a lot of “wait, stay back, stay back” waiting for the traffic to pause sufficiently to cross; now I pick a child and confidently toss them into the road whilst soothingly reassuring them that the drivers will stop if you’re already crossing.
We had four nights in Genoa and did the aquarium, science centre, Spanish galleon and ate a lot of pesto; the kids loved every second and did not want to leave.

But leave we did, for Pisa, and the obligatory leaning tower photos.

And then Florence, which initially I wasn’t too fussed about BUT what a beautiful city it is! That said, beauty is meaningless to the average 5yr old, so again, lots of fab museums that keep them entertained, followed by pizza and gelato as required. We did find a chocolate shop that had an entire wall of chocolate fountain, and Kid A got his Mary Whitehouse on about all the statues having a penis.

Anyway, we are now in Rome and will update further when I find the time. Ciao!
